I'm certain that silver plate would have started life as flat, the bearing riding on top taking the weight of the platter and providing as little friction as possible. Definitely flip that over if possible. When reassembling a dab of grease might be needed to keep the ball in place on the end of the spindle until its seated properly. Apply some oil to the spindle and be careful to line it up well with the bearing when replacing so you dont scratch any of the bronze sleeve. Hope that helps.. mainly based on my TD124 experience.
Its hard to tell from the photos exactly whats going on there, but I would carefully remove the bearing as well and check if it has a flat spot worn on it, in which case replace it as well. Is the silver plate removable from the end cap? I'm certain that silver plate would have started life as flat, the bearing riding on top taking the weight of the platter and providing as little friction as possible. Definitely flip that over if possible. When reassembling a dab of grease might be needed to keep the ball in place on the end of the spindle until its seated properly. Apply some oil to the spindle and be careful to line it up well with the bearing when replacing so you dont scratch any of the bronze sleeve. Hope that helps.. mainly based on my TD124 experience. :)
