Can I give you a simple recipe for the guy that has little money? Speakers: Build a pair of Lampizator P17 speakers. You don't have to use Saba for the top- a nice old fullrange driver could also work in the place of the Saba combo. Then look out for a nice pair of 15" pro bass drivers (like Eminence Beta 15A/Eminence Delta 15A). They can be second-hand, because these drivers were built to last and should be OK unless utterly abused. Amp: Build or buy a small class D amp. There are plenty for very little money. Source: Digital: Get an old CDP that was good. Think old Rotel, Yamaha, Sony, Denon, HK, etc. Upgrade it by adding a Fetishizator in the output stage instead of all the old op-amps. There are a few internal tweaks that can also be done to improve the sound. Vinyl: Get a good, old TT here on the forum or from Gumtree/Junkmail/OLX/etc. Add a nice cartridge (if it does not already have one). Then add a phonostage. GECO on the forum makes a very good one for little money. With that combo of speakers, amp and front-end you will embarrass my more expensive systems. Just my :2c:. :)
