So if you roll it up halfway and remove your hand it must stay in that position. This is the function of that coiled spring. Then the weight is added for the motor to put a slight downwards pull. That is why I don't want to fiddle too much on mine and rather get a contractor. Also, good luck finding a contractor that knows what he is doing. The installer messed up my doors and I had a fight to get them replaced after a couple of months due to premature wear. I also get the idea one door is still not centered in the rails when it was installed couple of years ago.</p></blockquote><p></p>
