I currently have a pair of Q Acoustics Concept 20 (thanks @nieldreyer) which I'm really enjoying. They're connected to a NAD 3220PE stereo amp.

Let's say I wanted to experiment with adding a subwoofer to my setup, is it best to get one where the speaker outputs from the amp go to the subwoofer and then from the subwoofer to the bookshelf speakers?

Which subwoofers are generally recommended? I see there's a Q Acoustics 3070S, but it doesn't have speaker-level inputs/outputs. I'd ideally want something that could even go inside my media cabinet.

Do I need to get one that pairs well with the "Q Acoustics sound" or will something like the Polk Audio PSW10 work well? This one gets great reviews, has the speaker-level inputs, and is in my price range.

I want to try adding one to try get the 'fuller soundstage' benefits I read about, but I don't want any boomy base or anything!

Thanks!
