[QUOTE="KenMasters, post: 846298, member: 517"] As I said, the 9 series is traditionally Samsung's top offering, so whatever is the best they have to offer in a region gets labelled the 9 - lest people think they only have mid and lower tier offerings. Specs aren't fixed everywhere because different regions value different things and have different technical and aesthetic requirements. EDIT: Consider for a moment the asking price of the FALD FN9000 in South Africa. People are no doubt going to consider it ludicrous, but a few well heeled enthusiasts, or simply the well healed, will feel it's worth it for a FALD display. For the rest of us there's their cheaper edge-lit displays. That makes much more sense for them than A: Bringing out a much more expensive FN9000 based on the U.S. model's FALD system, pricing themselves out of sales or B: Offering two FALD models, in which case they'll likely sell next to no 9 models plus leave consumers who still spent a considerable amount feeling like they got second best.
