My point exactly! Class D amplifier should not be put into a specific category, labelling their sound qualities based on the design principle. I have not found the information I was looking for pertaining to the switching frequency, but I know it was quite high. As a test this morning, I connected a pair of "Blameless" amps that was built my Shaun(Shonver) to hear if there is a big difference in sound. Initially I did not think there was a huge difference, except maybe that the Flying Moles appeared to have more power. Bu the longer I listened the more differences became obvious. I found that some detail was subdued(not missing, but not as clear as I am used to) For instance a paino played in the background appeared to blend more into the background than with the Moles. Personally I also felt that the Moles have better control of bass, but that could be because they appear to have more power. This does not make the "Blameless" amps to be lesser amps than the Flying Moles, but there is a big enough difference for me to prefer the Moles. To me in a way this was a test of similiar priced power amps as I think the components for the Blameless amps were around R2500 each, so if it was a commercial amp the cost would probably have been close to that of the Flying Moles. Okay I have properly hijacked this thread and I apologise for that and if I created the impression that I think Class D amps are better than SS or Valve, that is not the case. It just gets my hair up if someone categorises and labels specific design principles.
