I've started on a XBMC install last night on Ubuntu. Was a bit tougher than I thought. * Hardware: I installed an MSI GT520, upgraded the RAM to 2GB, installed a LG DVD drive. * Started with XBMC Live but couldn't get anything to display after the XBMC splash screen * Then started a fresh minimal install of Ubuntu Natty (11.04) * Followed the guide http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=XBMCbuntu to install everything (used XBMC ppa from maverick) I had some issues with the NVidia drivers. The glx drivers do not work for the GT520. Get the latest drivers from the Nvidia site and run the installer. AlSA audio drivers is picking up the nVidia card, but I'm at work now and can't test audio over HDMI. Will do so tonight. I streamed a 720p version (mp4) of Avatar over a 100mbps LAN and the video looked good. Will test further tonight. Boot time is a little slow, but i'll tweak that afterwards.
