I prefer the older Kef models like the Kef Q55.2 over the Kef IQ5 due to the larger drivers and better sound dynamics including better bottom end extension (to my ears anyway). Whilst the IQ5 sports the newer cabinet design with the rounded back and looks more modern and is more attractive, the sound took a step back from the older models in my opinion. Larger drivers move more air and get the job done without any design gymnastics trying to get smaller drivers to punch above their weight. The whole slimline design movement has more to do with the WAF factor than strictly focusing on audio reproduction and is generally referred to as lifestyle designs. As for your dilemma in choice, the best bet would be to try and audition the newer models and make a decision from there as it is always about personal preference.
