The need for radio stations is dying. Music is being replaced by streaming. Talk is being replaced by podcasts. IMO, the last decent radio station broadcasting locally was Classic FM. But even that became an exercise in repetitive playlists over a 72 hour period. Carolyn Steyn was the one real stand-out personality, her stints were truly enjoyable. Mix, 702, FiveFM, LM, JacaKaka, and then the abomination HOT (that took over the classic broadcast license), are all atrocious, for different reasons. It boggles the mind that anyone can tolerate the mindless blathering from the "DJ's" & their side kicks. May they all soon vanish into the abyss, and let streaming become mainstream for the middle class & up locally. (Cue our resident HOT defender to run along with hackles up in 3... 2....) Realistically, our socio-economic demographics dictate that there will be many different language stations broadcasting for a long time to come.
