Hi all, thanks for the welcome. Collective replies: to BWS: I love the Oppo. Even though the video processing is identical (standard BDP-83 to my BDP-83SE), even normal DVDs come out surprising smooth, almost great, on my plasma. Not at all like that on my other second-rate LED TV. The Oppo loads quickly, the on screen displays are easy to use and understand, and so on. I have so use for 3D, so no need to worry about upgrading. I am sure there are better players out there, but in my internal quality-versus-cost evaluation, I am very happy. To fdlsys: No comparison. I chose the Bose because: 1. I wanted a centre with a low profile - so that it wouldn't block the bottom edge of a TV when both are on a plain Jane plasma unit. 2. I didn't want to spend a chunk of money on a teenager system. 3. I got for a decent price. But the von Schweikert is an altogether more complicated beast. It likes to stand on the floor (is way to tall to be on same shelf as TV). It needs space behind it as it has a rear-firing tweeter for "ambient effect". It is just SOOO lekker! Sjoe, but it takes time for me to type a reply (I am a more than a bit 'picky' when it comes to my own grammar and punctuation......)
