I seem to recall we met somewhere Rob? You're right about Radio Spares & Electronics, I think he changed it to "& TV" later. He broke some ground when he started offering black and white TV kits LOL. He started another business with his eldest son selling parts for souped-up cars, it was also called RS-something, and towards the end he spent more time there than in the electronics shop. The son wasn't the least interested in electronics. Last time I was at the shop was about 2018 or so, somewhere in Booysens, it was still selling the same sort of stuff but it had lost the atmosphere and there had been about three or four different owners since he sold, I was told. Still bought a replacement woofer and replacement switch for the Annihilator. I was in the army with his second son, great guy, totally different to his old man. Aloof is a good way to describe Daan. But with me dad he was different, strangely, they were like true pals. Weird thing was, he never got my name right, kept calling my Charles for some reason. At the funeral he asked to have my dad's watch, which was kind of endearing. To me he remains an enigma. Thanks for posting, you're brought back a lot of memories now.
