Playing devils advocate here. I think to perfectly identical receivers could be made to work though with complications like splitting the sources to feed audio in to both amplifiers. As long as the remote eyes are close to eachother and the amps remain in sync it could actually work. (I remeber a UK hifi show where 2 x Pioneer A400 integrated amps were used to bi amp a set of speakers, the volume controls were "ganged" with an elastic band!!!) However, I think I understand the OP uses more then one set of front speakers at the same time and despite previous posts where we suggested he tries better single pair speakers this seems to be the way he likes things. so rather than bi amping by splitting the crossovers, running a "power amp" section per loadspeaker pair will give more control. IOW, if you do use a receiver with pre outs with a separate power amp, use the receiver to drive the smaller speakers completely and the power amp to drive the bigger ones. It should increase SPL, control AND SAFETY for the amplifiers.
