What do you use as a reference?

Ampdog also true - we also listened to some Thomas Rogoff gear at the same show. I got two pamphlets of the product, the one of the amplifier said "a new age in sound" and the other of the floorstand said "hear it,believe it". Those big floorstands comes at R280000 a pair if I am not mistaken,I...

What do you use as a reference?

goneten looks like we posted the same time. you are right in saying that music has no real standards and every one has their opinion of what they like and how it must sound - but when we listen to real instrument and compare that against a system in our homes or cars ,surely you can hear if...

What do you use as a reference?

alphabet - and in my opinion that is sometimes what happens with equipment irrespective of the pricetag. We invest in good drivers, spend a lot of time and effort to build our cabinets, planning and wiring x-overs,build amplifiers and so on. But if we dont take the sound of real instument into...

    MFW-15 subwoofer review

goneten thanks for your answer! But I am impressed that you can hear normal phasing changes and canesellations than can only be picked up by testing equipment such as AudioControl IASYS. I wish I had that gift.

goneten Can your measuring equipment measure the phasing of notes across the range as they arrive at the mic? If so,can you show us the graph where you tested for it?

    MFW-15 subwoofer review

goneten interesting indeed. For me the real instrument must be the guideline - and only that. A mic pics up other factors that can influence the graph and should be used more as a tool to fix problem areas. In any way,did you do a test to see which notes gets to the mic in phase, out of phase...

    MFW-15 subwoofer review

Hi goneten Nice enclosres man! I am new to this and I am coming from a car audio background - I am sure we listen for more or less the same things when we do testing on drivers or litrening to a installed system. I have one question. Did you use only the mic to finetune the system as per the...
