so after an entire evening with the 685's, i still can't decide. there are definitely elements i miss of the VR2's.  They are a more complete speaker. The 685's, while not as complete, definitely sound awesome in the area they are made for. One observation i've made is that with the Bostons...

OK so I now have the 685's  doing their audition for a day or 2 before we seal their fate... Still can't decide which I like more. They are both good! Both stage well. The vr2's definitely more punch and bigger presence and command of the meatier parts of the music, which means no real timing...

In actual fact, i have the VR2's at home currently hooked up, and i'm seriously enticed by an offer for the 685's... my listening area is also open plan, so quite a bit of space to fill.  Think i will do a trial run with only bookshelf speaks doing duty on all channels tonight. had no idea...

Thanks Scrat! so that is 1 for the VR2's then? i thought that perhaps the sub would fill in for the difference of bookshelf vs floorstander, with the crossover set to 60HZ... I'm so torn!  :help: what about from an investment perspective and future tradeability?

Hi folks. Me again. Have any of you had an experience with the bose 201v speakers? I can get a pair for about R2200. Are they worth the money, and would they be a step up from my jamo classic 4 speakers for stereo listening?

Thanks guys for the great advice. Its good hearing this as opposed to all the guys asking me why I spend so much money on HT and stereo setups. LoL. I suppose what I have should suffice for now.  I owe my wife a trip as well, so I guess its gna be a while before my next set of speakers.

Yup have them biwired at the moment and also had them bi amped off the 2 assignable outputs on the avr.
