You may be right in that the Wiim lets you choose the maximum output via coaxial (anything up to 192/24), which I in turn have set to maximum - not seeing the point of choosing a lower setting. Perhaps then it is just "padding" the extra bits as you say...

I have Deezer streaming via Chromecast to a Wiim Pro streamer, connected to a Topping E30ii dac by coaxial. The dac shows a 44khz stream (no bitrate), however the Wiim app shows it streaming at 24bit/44khz rather than 16bit/44khz. Has Deezer improved their hifi quality or is this just the app...
