I am currently using the optical connection to the TV and hdmi from the TV to my other devices. I use a tv box and watch on a plex server, most of the content on the server is 5.1 and I enable passthrough on plex.

So basically, I am looking for true 5.1, I don't want it to be simulated. The inclusion of HDMI arc was also something I was looking for. Perhaps a decent subwoofer will be nice as well.

So, I have the TV connected to the receiver through the optical connection. I am not sure if the receiver is truly playing 5.1 as it does say Dolby pro logic II which converts a stereo source into 5.1.
