    I definitely agree that someone who knows what they're doing needs to have a look. I assumed it was not as simple as replacing the cap and resistor... On visual inspection all the valves seemed ok. I hope it can be repaired (at a reasonable cost)

    So C35 was the one that went. 50uf 25V. I replaced it (wishful thinking), it popped again. R57 (130ohm 5W) looked fried as well and confirmed zero resistance across it. So I replaced C35 and R57, capacitor went again.
