Agree on XLR comment.  Other side of the amplifier but is solved the problem I had between amp and power amp.  Layout of the room required a  cable run to the power amp, switched to XLR and works perfectly

Classical music stored in one section, the rest alphabetical on artist last name.  By the end of the weekend it becomes a big mess with all the albums used over the weekend in the front of the shelves. 

Lost some equipment in the past due to over voltage (stolen cable upstream on the three phase feed to our building).  Is there any type of protection that can be used for this?

Sad to see this one go.  Used to listen to the Business Show in the evening driving back from the office, often forgot to change the station in the morning and arrived at the office much calmer when I listened to Classic FM in the morning.

Back to an earlier comment.  I once saw a SONY turntable with a built in preamp.  It had a switch on the back that could deactivate it and could be the reason why the audio is louder than expected.  Plug it in on non Phono port and see if the sound is normal

Luckily no bribes, my wife also enjoys good music so no issue yet.  I am getting a nudge to get rid of old equipment.  For the benefit of our marriage she does not ask questions on the cost of AV equipment or MTB upgrades

Different option.  Gen 3 Apple TV with optical to DAC works great for me.  Even the wife can use it, just renamed the Apple TV to the input on the amp so now Rotel OPT1 shows up on the iPhone for connection and Rotel set to OPT1 and the rest just works

Fully agree. Had multiple amps at one point, could swop out based on the music I was listening to at the time. The bachelor days are gone now and sticking to a single amp now but do miss playing around
