Thanks for info. The player is super clean and white grease looks very fresh. The problem is the Laser Disc won't start to rotate until I slap the bottom of player. (CD works fine) Something might be stuck, but if I take this apart myself it might never work again.

Hey guys, I found a Hitachi Laser Disk player, perhaps not as cool as the Pioneers, but they don't come up that often so... This one is in mint condition. It plays CD fine, but if I pop in a LD, it closes, makes a motor kinda noise for 3 sec and opens again. The LD does not spin or slightly...

Kenwood KD-2055 Turntable any good for R3k? Been looking for a (S shaped tonearm) TT in mint condition for some time and this one seems to be, but maybe R3k is a bit too much for this, or can I do better? I'm willing to spend R1000 or so on a new Stylus and Cartridge in the future for whatever...

Thanks fdlsys I'll give the current repairer a chance to try fix this mess before I name them, but if they don't sort it out... I might go buy a soldering iron and watch a few youtube vids and remove it from the PCB myself. I'm about as comfortable doing that as performing open-heart surgery...
