Hi Jeremy, I used "Ultra Fine" Cat litter itself in the columns. It is basically just fine sand anyway, but you don't have to worry about bugs or moisture.

A few years ago when I still had bookshelf speakers on stands, I always filled the stands with sand. And to make sure the sand was clean and dry, I bought cat sand (kitty litter) from PnP... Works a charm and no worries about bugs or the sand being wet that might cause corrosion if they are...

I would definitely give the demo version a try when I have a system up and running again...
