    Bernstein

What a brilliant (musical) day I had yesterday. Went to the Linder in Joburg where Richard Cock directed the Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein. It was simply brilliant. Bernstein was just a genius. There is a recording on YouTube where Bernstein himself conducts this piece (see below)...

    HiFi vs live music

I know that this has been discussed here many times but I would like to give some recent observations. A week or so ago I went to a live concert, piano and side flute, playing classical pieces by French composers, see program below. The performance was by two young SA musicians that does the...

    Just some trivia.

This thread is just about some trivia, it is not all my own (some is). Say who or what is it before you scan down to see the answer. Some are trivial but I like the photos anyway. Not serious, just have fun. Who are these two fellows? Keith Richards (obviously) and ?The Bavarian...

What do you do when this happens...

Got home from work and found this in my music room.... A pristine set of LPs from a serious collector. There are between 450 and 480 LPs in mint condition. Most of them really rare collector?s items (and some popular music). I am gobsmacked. Thanks Brian!

    Tough outdoor cable.

I need lots of 4-core, 7mm outer diameter, PUR sheath cable. I need at least 2000m (2km) now and will need more. Places like RS are importers and will not work, I need locally manufactured cable. PVC will possibly be ok as well. Anybody?

Mechanical toys: (I will show you mine if you show me yours) I think it is safe to say that everybody on this forum loves gear and/or music, that's why we are here. But I bet that most of us also appreciate beautifully made stuff, and I am not referring to art. Like a hunting knife, motorbike...
