    Sansui-AU 111 revisited

Hi K J S I full y agree with you. I have seen them going up and up in price. If I recall the one went for approx. R45k. Yes you can easily use it with another pre-amp. I have found that when all the necessary electrolytic replacements are done the pre-amp sounds not to bad.

    Sansui-AU 111 revisited

Hi Ampdog I have repaired quite a few of these amps. You are correct in the fact that the transistor shown should be marked NPN. Just as a note the later or final edition of the Au-111 indicates 2SC650 as the also used from the factory. This is the parameters of the 2SC650: 2SC650 Transistor...

Any value or should I throw these away?

Hi Everyone The C is negative and the 8ohm or 16ohm is positive. The 220 sound excellent when recapped! Replace the 6BM8's, and you would not believe how sweet the sound is! Hennie

    Sansui BA-303 and AU-70

Hi Ampdog I fully agree with you that UL is the most efficient. I could maybe select between Triode an Pentode mode. (Dynaco setup. I need to check the schematic to see if it is possible.) May I post you the schematic and spec sheet? It's about 1M each. Hennie

    Sansui BA-303 and AU-70

The core steel must be: Two of the most significant issues on output transformer design are the core selection and the winding techniques.  Most of Hashimoto's main output transformers, excluding smaller transformers, such as 15W in PP or 7W in SE, are constructed with a parallel twin Cut-Core...

    Sansui BA-303 and AU-70

Hi Ampdog I know that Hashimoto do make "newly produced" OP transformers that is apparently equal to or better than the original Sansui OPT. The BA-303 use KT88 triode mode. I would love to build a replica of that amp, but it must be as close as possible to the original. I do have a copy of...

    Sansui BA-303 and AU-70

Hi Everyone I really enjoy this forum. Very interesting discussions. My questions however are: I'm looking for a AU-70 and BA-303, which is very scarce. Do we have someone locally that my produce output transformers, with the Hashimoto/Sansui quality? The problem is the core material that...

    SANSUI AU111 valve amplifier service

Hi FD and others. I'm also re-doing an AU-111. You have to buy from various sources to obtain the capacitors. I did buy some from: 1) RS components 2) Communica 3) Avnet Kopp 4) Electro Comp I did find that useally Avnet Kopp would stock most caps up to 1000VDC but not any more.... For...
