There is a guy on the corner of Washington Street and 12th Avenue in Boston - Techfix. His shop does not look like much but he fixed another SONY AVR of mine with the same problem. Quick turnaround time and the cost was very reasonable.

Solution: Apply hairdyer for one minute. Fixed!

I forgot to mention - we live in a complex where there are no dishes. I think the signal comes from one source and is then distributed to all the homes.

Where can I take my SONY ES series AVR for a service in Cape Town?

My old SONY AV receiver goes into ?PROTECT? mode when I switch it on and switches off by itself soon after. I?ve tried it with speakers and a source connected and without. Same result. Can anyone recommend a repair shop/guy in Cape Town?

I got that bundle a few days ago. Mainly for Gran Turismo. HUGE improvement over my old PS3 and Gran Turismo 5 in terms of graphics. Gran Turismo looks very smooth and the gameplay has been streamlined. Much quicker to get hold of the faster cars. My old PS3 will be in the classifieds soon.

Who can I go to to check out a turntable? There is power, but the platter doesn?t turn.

It lost charge. Wouldn't last two days. It had swollen so much I struggled to get it out.

I have. They fit perfectly, but don't charge in the cradle. When I put them in an old Nokia phone, they charged. Tips on the web about shorting out one of the terminals didn't help either.
