Well? the next part was to darken the grilles, and it did not go well. I bought some fabric dye, it required hot water but I figured that the plastic would be fine since ABS melts at close to 200C. First, a quick wash From here, the grilles had to go into a pot with the dye and stay there...

I never said it was good value ;) It was just the only sensible looking option locally (albeit out of stock). Also interesting that despite looking identical, the magnet in the mxC tweeter was much larger than in the mxR. Same for the woofers. Obviously just different power handling requirements...

Strainger did you ever come across a Mercury tweeter? I'm in a similar boat, my MC b/eye tweeter failed and I ended up buying an entire mxC centre speaker to harvest the tweeter. Overkill, but at R499... Except now my OCD is demanding that I get the mxC into a working state, or at the very least...

Oh, and I was looking into the options for "re-coating" the tweeter, but that went out the window when it started measuring open-circuit :( Guess I'm not too sad about that, was a pretty daunting project...
