Political comments from Picture of the Day.

Your attitude to rape. Oh, and much, much, much less significantly, although I'll go on much more about it, your repeated insistence that readers of your missives ought to consider them reasonable and even-handed after you have admitted that 'it' is (in an inchoate way) an emotional issue to...

Nothing says good-faith interlocutor quite like disregarding or belittling rape.

I think the end of the anthropocene epoch will sound something like this: .

    Youtube!! Links to Great Songs

Sometimes hearing something familiar in a different setting can knock off the jadedness and remind one of the greatness of the familiar. Here's a wonderfully performed reminder of how Robert Fripp (and the rest of King Crimson) has given us many lovely melodies over the years, in this case in In...

It seems that lumens, like quarks, come in different flavours, or at least not all lumens are measured equal: How to Convert ANSI Lumen to LED Lumen and Light Source Lumen?.

Second-hand is where I'm looking, grumpy. The claim made for the Panasonic AE4000U of 1600 ANSI lumens, which supposedly translates to around 3800 lumens, but RS4 disapproves of the Panasonic for my stated purposes.

Thanks, prossoux. R15k is way beyond what I could justify for only very occasional use. I'm looking at something like a Panasonic PT-AE4000U, which pushes out 1080p natively at a claimed 1600 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 100000:1. Does anyone have experience with or an opinion on that...

Evening into night use, I think. The area is covered. The screen (such as it may be) will block the setting sun in the west.

Thank you, Morgan. I want to keep things very simple and flexible for only infrequent and casual use, use that couldn't justify a tailor-made installation.

    Outdoor projector - help

Hello, everyone I'm thinking of doing some occasional (once-in-blue-moon) film projection outdoors in the warmer months and would like to so so without breaking my tiny little piggie bank. (Before you ask about budget, take whatever amount you think is cheap and halve it!) I'm putting myself at...
