Thanks for the reply. The question about selection between HDMI and DAC was more about on the Mac side. At the moment it automatically outputs the audio via HDMI on the Mac, so if I add a DAC I need to select the audio output to go via USB instead of HDMI.

The cost to repair was a just not worth it R2k -R3k. Sold the unit as is and got a great deal on a Onkyo that is a better fit. Also upgraded my speakers to Dynaudio Audience 70’s that should not have worked too well on the lower output of the smaller Marantz.
