I have been using it as a transport for the last couple of years. Switching between CDs and streaming I prefer to use the same DAC for what it is worth. Have not actually spent time trying to see what the difference is between my DAC and the one in the CD player but I am happy with what I hear.

Looks very nice! You can get aluminium flat bar from Builders if you want to do the shelf support like Thixar. Just seems like strips of aluminium tight fit into pre-cut grooves. You can cut grooves from the back and stop short of coming out the front for a neater look I guess...
