    Sennheiser HD 660S demo needed

Yep. I doubt they're going to sound radically different to one another. I have a pair of extremely power hungry DT770's - the 250 ohm version. One needs a decent amp just to get it up to normal listening volume. Huge bass, but can be a bit sibilant too. They don't have the lovely midrange...

    Sennheiser HD 660S demo needed

I upgraded from the HD58X (from Massdrop) to the HD660S1 about 5 years ago. While, I loved the HD58X, the HD660S1 was just a bit better in every department...particularly clarity. Like you, @Tonteldoos, I absolutely love them and will never part with them either. When I need to use a pair...

How many of you like the sound system in your car?

Jeepers, @tyke. That's a serious setup. A high performance car must have a sound system that complements its character.

@Steve, does the GTi’s Dynaudio system produce enough bass? I had a couple Golf 5 GTi’s many years ago and always felt that they were light on bass.

The only negative with switching from Foobar to something like Audirvana is going to be cover art. Foobar will pull through cover art from the music folder, whereas Audirvana looks primarily at what's tagged against the FLAC file...then looks through the music folder. If nothing is tagged...

That's great news. I don't want streaming anyway.

OK, to answer my own question...I downloaded and installed Audirvana and did an in depth comparison against Foobar. Ah - without question - Audirvana sounds noticeably better. There's a noticeable improvement in clarity, instrument separation, soundstage...the music just has more sparkle...

That's eina. Thank goodness it was still under warranty.

Very pleased that my Jag has B&W speakers. I'm a huge B&W fan. However, I find the treble is unfortunately quite sibilant in the car. Particularly "S" sounds. Quite piercing. I don't think it's the fault of the speakers. It is most likely a result of the leather roof lining. Looks very...

I am keen to try out Audirvana Studio. I see there is a monthly subscription though. It's not that expensive I guess, but it is another debit order. Foobar is free. Just out of interest, have you ever compared the sound quality of Audirvana to Foobar?

Thank you, @sailor. You are quite right. Using the graphic equaliser is not ideal. I'm not entirely removing that frequency. This adjustment is enough to eliminate the hum from all playback tracks. My set up did suffer from a ground loop issue. I had an extremely annoying buzz coming...

Thank you, @kinosfronimos. I have tried something like this in the past, but couldn't get it to work. I will give this one a go though. Much appreciated!

My room has terrible, terrible acoustics. Way too much glass and tiles. While I have done a boat-load of room treatment (carpets, plants, paintings, curtains and acoustic panels) there is still an annoying hum at 125Hz. I have not been able to eliminate that hum despite my best efforts. That...

Of course, the other way to get your hands on FLAC files is to rip your CD collection.
