Firstly let me welcome you to the AVForums website on behalf of AVForums and AVSA magazine and we trust that you will have a great stay and that you will find this an informative, friendly and co-operative community.

This particular forum is specifically in place for all and any queries, comments, suggestions and discussion related to content in the AVSA magazine. This includes but is not limited to discussion about product reviews, letters and reader queries. You will be required to register as a member (registration is free) of this forum to actually post on the boards or to download any content that we may provide. This is purely to ensure that the forums can be correctly monitored.

When starting a topic in this forum we would request that you state either the issue number or month of publication of the AVSA magazine in question as well as a page number for ease of reference.

With this being a community forum, you are all aware that opinions are going to differ and I know how passionate we are about our hobby/addiction Wink . We encourage debate, differences of opinon and even a good old arguement from time to time. What will not be tolerated however is any post that is in any way inflamatory, racist or any remark that the moderators see as a personal attack on an individual. This will be monitored by both AVForums and AVSA.

Have fun, ask plenty of questions, post lots of advice and feel free to browse and participate in the the rest of the forum as well.

Any queries can be made to me directly greg@avforums.co.za or to Pavel (kay) pavel@avforums.co.za or can be posted on the forum.

Once again, welcome and we look forward to LOTS of debate  Grin

Greg

Thanks, Greg. I think you've pretty much said all that needs to be said right now. Hopefully in the coming days and weeks, usual visitors to the magazine website will see the link and come visit, and post. Let's make it a fun place, and an educational place to hang out. I can assure those who might come here with technical questions, that AVForums SA has a number of brilliant minds who are not only capable of answering you, but keen on doing so, too. So far, none of them bite either, so feel comfortable in knowing that there are no stupid questions to ask.

But, as with everything in life, there are always those hidden 'terms', and regrettably I need to say the following in order to cover as many bases as possible.

This is the AVSA page of AV Forums. And as such, guests/members need to understand that there are politics involved on this page that aren’t present elsewhere on the AV Forums site, and as much as it grates me to have to point this out, it is vital to do so in order to keep this forum alive, and hopefully to grow it in the coming weeks and months.

This forum is meant to give you an opportunity to, amongst other things, interact with AVSA staff, to discuss problems, ideas you might have, to become more involved with the magazine in its day-to-day running, to give us feedback on where you think we are going right…and where we are going wrong.

But please understand that there are limitations to what we can discuss here. It is not our choice, but dictated by virtue of the fact that we are, at the end of the day, a business, and so cannot acknowledge or claim to have preferences in personal taste of one product over another, without losing our credibility as an impartial reviewer of equipment.

It is a forum whose survival requires a certain level of maturity in all involved. If you happen to read a comment here that displeases you because you have a vested interest in that product, please…please respect the ideal of freedom of speech and rather join in the debate, instead of calling for the removal of said thread. The former will gain you the respect of all involved here.

And in the spirit of freedom of speech, please accept – and allow – our various reviewers to freely interact with members, to give their opinions on various matters without regarding it as an official statement on the policies of Audio Video SA.

This is a small enough segment of South African society as it is, so please, let’s all get together, forget about our personal likes/dislikes/agendas, and help grow the love for good music and good video for the ultimate benefit of all of us.
