with this old stuff you guys are going on about - I'm trying to find a pioneer system taht was built in the 1980's sometime - it had a receiver, tape deck, turntable...now i found an old vintage website with all pioneer's stuff but not the one i'm looking for - i just cannot remember the model number of this unit.
its in the same era as the Amstrad TS-35....in the 80's sometime... i remember seeing the advert for it in a readers digest - my uncle owned one...

Rondo 2000
Edit: Nah... just read your other post. I think it is likely to be Rondo 3000.

It was definitely called the Rondo 3000. The Rondo 2000 was a seperates system where the 3000 was an all-in-one.

My one, still in daily use. KH-4455 IIRC. Couple of things I could never understand with this unit though: It's got a surprisingly good turntable, a surprisingly good cassette deck, and a very good IC amp. It's even got aux in and record out for connecting a second deck, or a DVD player, or whatever - I'm using the record outs to record LP's to PC. However - no Dolby on the deck (but it's got record level controls, music search, auto-repeat, and logic control... ), a mono tuner (albeit a very good one), and the most horrid standard speakers ever designed. What were they thinking? Despite these shortcomings, they were still incredibly popular. The biggest upgrade to a stock Rondo is throwing away the rubbish speakers and using something decent, with some nice cable. I've got a set of JPW bookshelfs hanging off mine, and it sounds great.

and the most horrid standard speakers ever designed. What were they thinking? Thats for sure. I think the Rondo 2000 used the same speakers. A friend of mine had the 3000 and eventually bought a pair of Yamaha speakers from me(can't remember model - They were big, white and had 12" woofers, 3 -way) and that combination sounded way better.
