Starting my Vinyl Experience.....
« on: June 06, 2011, 09:00:41 am »

I picked up this turntable for R200.00 recently. Its from a Pioneer Rondo 2000 combo and is in quite good condition. The previous owner had just replaced the cartridge with a new Pioneer one recently as well.

I hooked it up to my Rotel RA-06 yesterday and tried it with a Jennifer Rush album that came with the turntable. Sounded good even if the vinyl was not in the best condition.

The power cable and the RCA cables are not in the best condition so I want to upgrade these. Anyone in the Durban area that works on turntables?

I am also looking for some used vinyl  :)

Solid. That was my first turntable (that belonged to me personally, not the family).

So I decided to go look for some used vinyl today in Durban. I remembered from my school days that there used to be a record shop called Record King in Ajmeri Arcade on Grey Street so I decided to take a walk there to see if it still existed.

To my surprise the store is still there and has a large selection of used and new (as in still sealed albums) vinyl. I browsed around for a bit and selected these for now.

All except the last one are still sealed and cost me the princely sum of R 50.00 in total ;D

I will definitely be going back there soon to get more vinyl.

Rod, sorry I don't have their number and they are not listed in the Durban phone book either.

No store sticker on the back of the vinyl?
