From the modeling of the TS parameters they give on the site, this subwoofer requires a BIG, no really A HUGE BOX.   Had vas set to ft^3 :P not litres

Sorry this doesn't look to bad, what do you want to achieve with the subwoofer?

In my experience the P3 is better sounding than the T1. The T1 will move a bit more air, but you'll need a monster amp to get it to do so.

P3: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/product_details.asp?cat_id=4&series_id=31&family_id=11&item_id=120424&locale=en_US&p_status=

T1: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/scripts/rightnow.cfg/php.exe/enduser/fattach_get.php?p_sid=1Zhzzkvk&p_tbl=9&p_id=379&p_created=1084310906

Not sure whether these are suitable for HT use though.

The past, the present and the future walk into a bar. It was tense.  :nutter:

ooooh that P3 one looks great (just at a glance) with a low Fs and more Xmax than the T1

I'll be honest with you. For HT you want to go low for the impressive FX. How much do the JBL subs cost compared to that P3? (I've got no idea) And then What's the specs of the chosen JBL subs?

Get two, if it's only one he might get lonely.

One actually has to look at Vd/R to gauge the value for such applications (within reason). When going sealed and if you can use EQ, I'd look for two units with sufficiently low Fs and enough Xmax for the application and mount them back-back. If you need more output, multiple subs have other benefits other than just increased levels and the back to back mounting has vibration benefits.
