Past AVSA Mags - how to get them?
« on: May 31, 2011, 01:01:45 am »
Hi,

I have noted that the AVSA website has a "reviews published" section -which shows the equipment that was reviewed, and not the actual review.
I would like to get my hands on past AVSA mags (not too sure how possible is this), mainly the ones that have SA equipment (Valve Audio/Sonor Audio/Steinhart Audio > etc as i these are the only ones i am aware of - apart from the recent Vivo)

Is this possible?
Even if these come up to about 15 mags - i don't mind paying for them and coming collect them if they are still available....

Could not have said it better!  ;D All you'd have to do is draw up a list of the year and issues you're after, and I'll put them aside for you, and you're welcome to pop past with a bottle of Jack Daniels and they're yours.  ;)

hahahahaha - Lol.

Problem is i also don't know which issues are they - i was hoping u had an easier search on your end on reviews done, since my best bet was the reviews published - which doesn't have any of the SA equipment (from the search on the AVSA site at least ).  ???

what to do?

or if the bribe >Gentleman J< came first - it'll speed up the process?  ;) to which i might end up with You Magazine.  :) ;)

You could always come through to the office and have a browse through roughly 20 years worth of magazines.
We may even offer you a cup of coffee (sometimes you need to hide the jack )
I think we have every copy printed barring one or two.

;D If you like, you can come through tomorrow morning (short notice, but we can easily make a plan for you another day that suits you. It's just that my car is going in for a service, so I'll be stuck at the office all morning while the mechanic hunts down a leaking pipe for me). We have the Looking Back issues, going back several years. Not all are in electronic format, but you're welcome to organise a day and time to come through, and we can take out all the March issues, take a look through the Looking Back, which lists all the reviews, hunt down the relevant magazines, and take it from there?

Is there no way to put back issues up into an archive on the web? I know its a bit of work to capture all the stuff at first but loads of it should be digital already...

I can't remember off-hand how far back our electronic records date back, all I do know is that I have no intention of volunteering to capture what isn't there!  ;)

Andrew still uses a Typewriter, don't confuse him by trying to explain what a scanner is ;D

C'mon Andrew, you know this is a great idea. I would be wonderful to Google audio/visual equipment and get links to reviews by the esteemed gentlemen at AVSA instead of always having to rely on reviews by overseas publications.

It can pay for itself through the extra traffic generated... Through the sale of either google ads or by selling per impression banners...

I'll look into it...but it's not my call, I'm afraid. Higher Powers take those decisions.  ;)
