Free PCB Layout Software
« on: October 18, 2007, 05:28:42 pm »
Seetrax Ranger 2 is available for free download. I have not yet done a design with it. Although it is a bit old, it does not seem to have serious limitations i.t.o board size and other contraints.

Any comments, any users? I'm playing with it ATM.

There's also this open source package:

Has anybody used it?

Having used Tango (the DOS version) for years and then using Eagle now, I've never felt the urge to change. I have a full version of Eagle and I've not encountered a design I couldn't do with ease.

At best I would be an occasional user, which is why I am looking at free software. OTOH if a full version of Eagle is reasonable I might consider it. What did you pay for yours?

Hmmm, It was a while ago, but I think it came to around R6k-R8k. Not too sure. Electronics 123 are the distributors. That price was for the full blown commercial version, you might be able to get away cheaper if you license it differently

First year EE prac
So how did you end like you are now ;)
Caution, whatever you read above, may, wonder of wonders, contain some level of jocularity.
