This I'll get, although I think a bunch of the songs were actually the very early '90s, not '80s.

Definately 90's

And Good Charlotte? Wtf? What have they done to deserve to be on any compilation? Btw, they're noughties.

Blur shouldn't be there - nothing alternative about them, and not 80's either.

What about some local flavour? No Friends Of Harry et al?

Whatever happened to them? I happened across this song the other day on the 'pod and almost set the airbag off playing steering-drums to this. Epic, epic song.

Thats pretty cool

I started a list and i had pretty much the same

A few stick and not very alternative in my opinion

Good Charlotte - Emo Kak
Prefab Sprout - My fave band but not too alternative
Men at Work - top track but a little poppy
Yes - not sure that would classify as alternative but cool track no less
OMD & Thompson Twins - naff
Billy Idol - mmm...

I may have added

B-52's
Cramps
Public Image Limited
The Fall
Sonic Youth
Crass
Lou Reed
David Bowie
Tobacco is my favourite vegetable

Centurion, Gauteng/Tshwane

Hmm, maybe I misread the "'80s" bit in his email. Will check just now. IT gremlins have struck again with the new router which only two of our PCs can 'see', and my one ain't one of them...  >:(

You need one of those good luck IT gnomes, keeps the gremlins away.
Caution, whatever you read above, may, wonder of wonders, contain some level of jocularity.

Some on the list I disagree with, but the one that seriously needs to be fixed is the Spear of Destiny, the track should be Never take me alive.
