What is the best Bluray you have watched?

I would rate Avatar and the Matric Trilogy as the top 2 Bluray movies that I have watched when it comes to picture quality in full HD

Was a little dissapointed with Transoformers as I expected a little more from the picture quality

What do you guys advise...

Avatar probably the best in HD Picture quality.

As for Music: Depeche Mode - Live in Barcelona and Neil Diamond - Hot August Night 2009. The Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master sound quality on both is excellent

Hard one to say. I've watched literally hundreds of Blu-rays and what I may think looks great is not necessarily the same as what you might like.

For instance some older films I think look just fantastic, not despite their visible film grain, but because of it. I also thought the Disney Beauty and the Beast BD looked just fantastic, superb detailing right down to the small mistakes the artists tried to paint over. To me this is even more of a thrill than the prisitine clarity of something like Toy Story 3 (although I appreciate Pixar's exceptional transfers as well).

Of course there's nothing wrong with typical crowd pleasers like Avatar and Tron: Legacy. I do however get slightly upset with the notion that everything on BD needs to look pin sharp and grain free. There are a lot of films who's transition to BD are marred by this narrow minded viewpoint.

@ KenMasters I couldn't agree with you more. I have also watched Toy Story 3 and it too looks pretty spectacular. I have just finished watching "Fear and Loating in Las Vegas" and I got to say that for such an old movie it was re-mastered brilliantly

Thanks for the feedback guys :-)

I'm sure I'd enjoy seeing many old movies on BD, as most of the time the picture was out of focus at the cinema back then.  :P

Avatar definitely first prize so far.. I have also been suitably impressed by District 9, Batman: The Dark Knight and Inception (more so from an audio perspective). Best animation blu-ray I've seen so far was "How to train your dragon" which I thought looked fantastic and kind of changed my attitude towards the usefulness of the format for animation movies.

I have to disagree on Batman. The audio is great and the dark scenes make for good test material but in terms of picture quality, all the sharpening in the movie is a real letdown.

Baraka (http://www.amazon.com/Baraka-Blu-ray-Ron-Fricke/dp/B001CDLATE/)

This movie has stunning visuals and soundtrack. The original was shot using 70mm film and then digitized from the original camera negative via state-of-the-art 8K UltraDigital mastering. Do yourself a favour and watch this movie at least once in your lifetime.

Would love to see this, I've heard a lot of good things about it.

I concur. I use this to demo Blu Ray visuals. 8)
