this is what I had to say about 3D a while ago http://www.gadget.co.za/pebble.asp?relid=2208
There is a new set of rules to calibrate a 3D TV.
You now need to calibrate for normal TV and have a second dedicated setting for 3D. It's a bit of a pain.

Content is an issue for me, the fact that there is none is a bummer. Look the glasses make you look like a Banana, but my projector was 3D to begin with, my HTPC and amp was too, so I just added the glasses and hey presto......I'll admit it's a bit of a E-Peen thing. Just hoping for more titles, there's loads of games out for it, but I'd like to see some more movies thanks. It does have that WOW factor though

The market seems to agree.

The people who paid over R40k less than a year ago for a 3D TV must feel pretty crap now!

A guy at work came back after the weekend last week and told me he had seen a 3D TV without glasses which, according to him, worked a treat.
I quite like 3D, but have only really watched movies on the big screen in 3D. And will definitely never buy a TV that requires special expenive glasses. Right now, if you have it, what would you watch on it anyway? I don't watch movies more than once so as long as Mr Video doesn't have 3D movies I'll pass.
I used to have SUPER POWERS.
But my therapist took them away. :vsad:

LG has just released a new series of 3D Tv that use passive glasses.
The technology actually works well and the glasses required are relativly inexpensive (we were told around $10 each). The Tv's are on display at the LG store in Monte Casino.

The glasses are nice and cheap but the drawback is that the 3D resolution is halved.

Apparently Wimbledon tennis will also be covered in 3D this year - don't know that it will be available here.
