12" Sub driver- how's this one?
« on: September 30, 2007, 07:55:41 am »
I've just come across this one from Earthquake. It is the TremorX 12-8 (although local agent calls it Tremor 128: have to check out the discrepancy).

F0=27Hz
Qts=0.6359
Qms=5.3508
Qes=0.493
Re=6.67
(Xmax)=27.94mm
BL=17.01TM
Sd=525cm2
VAS=100litres
Pmax=1250W
Pnom=625WRMS
Efficiency=86.8dB

Looks good in a sealed enclosure, perhaps could do with some EQ.

MSRP= R699

That xmax looks a little optomistic for a R700 driver. But I may be wrong. However R700 is hardly a big outlay and it may well provide very good value indeed

Yes, that's why I put it in brackets. Xmech, maybe...

It's the cheapest I've come across yet.

It's a little high Q, but some EQ and power will make for a nice little system.

@ Shaun: I am still toying with that Audio-pipe TXX-F10 in a TL measuing 250 x 200 x ~1700 as per this post (half space 1W into 4Ohm, note halfspace IB sensitivity for this driver is SPL 86.28 dB)

Now, are you toying with the sub, or are you toying with the idea?

Simulating it in a TL, though I am not sure whether I can trust the T/S posted in that thread. That 10 does have a very nice motor in the spec and if the T/S are reliable I am tempted to get myself one of them. If you model up the driver in WinISD you might want to question the reliability of the SPL simulated :)
