In a recent conversation Schalk mentioned that he was unhappy as someone on this forum called their products "Kitchen Table Efforts".
When I said that there was jest and referred to full business scope, not assembly, no names were given or specifically insinuated. Unfortunately it seems it was taken very personally. Later in my post I listed a range of companies that are similarly "non mass non corporate" or what was once called "cottage industry" in the UK that are commercially very viable. I used kitchen table after a story I once heard from John Dawson of Arcam on how they and many others in the UK started.
Over the last 3 days I have seen at least another 100 of these companies. Some know spin and have been around for 30 years, others just slowly sell direct and do what they love working from home etc.
Schalk, it saddens me you were offended and I can only apologise for what seems to have been a bad choice of words. I also feel the OP could have been seen as offensive the the so called names though.
I never meant to insinuate anything toward you or others about your quality, what I have seen outclasses dozens seen recently and made in that supposed Mecca of solid stuff with the beer gardens. IMO as per the "offending post" marketing and spin needs a better slant, not the build. That IMO needs as much or more innovative thought as the product.
Good stuff made well by honest folk is not always enough.
If Schalk were to set up operation in Germany for eg , he would be a very busy man with lots of orders and IMO much higher prices as there would be a heap of dealers and distribution channels interested.
