Beyond cool

These 2 Philips mono preamps has to be the coolest thing of the week. Notice the equaliser?Build quality seems fantastic too.

By my calculations the new price of 870DM each in 1960 would be $1500 in today's money.

Coolest trinkets of the year, I would say, JDZA.

My miserable Leak Stereo Point One with art deco brown and gold faceplate and ivory/gold inlay knobs doesn't belong in this company. Their condition looks superb too. I think the seller will get a very nice boost to his pension by all accounts.

Cheers

Nice!

Ol' ba have great fears of treading in this kind of territory unless given a brain transplant and a change in nationality. And a fast rewind to the golden age of audio  ;D

May I raise you this one

The Dynavector DV-3000 Gold. (1979)(Total production of around 125 pieces)
Finished in the baby blue hammer tone finish.
The same finish as the original Dynavector DV-505 tonearm

A true dual mono pre-amp.

Which boasts three phono inputs & front panel loading.

Factory equipped with matched octet of Telefunken ECC802S tubes & a matched pair of Telefunken ECC803S tubes.
A far cry from the Chinese catpiss they install in pre-amps today.

In addition all power components were silver wound TAM radio product.

Makes for a wonderful companion piece with the insanely rare Dynavector DV-8100 mono blocks.
Which incidentally there were only ten ever built for the 1979 CES show.
I own 0004 & 0006.

They are a parallel dual mono set up.

They also are outfitted with silver wound TAM radio chokes , input and output transformers.
Which as the story goes were personally wound by the owner of Tamura Radio as a personal favour to the owner of Dynavector .
So they were not entrusted to an employee but wound by the hands of the master.

Each Mono Block was outfitted at the factory with a matched quad of GEC Kt-88 Gold Lions , a pair of Telefunken ECC803S & a pair of RCA long black plate 12BH7

All of which are part of my collection

It is a homage to the legendary EMT idler drives of the 1950s to the 1970s.Much like the doors on the Mercedes SLS to the Gullwing.
This is the huge and ancient EMT 927 ,as famous for its 40cm platter as for the "Banana" tonearm. 5 Years ago these monsters went for about 10 000Euro. Prices now have shot up to the 60-70 000 Euro level as the Germans are finally rediscovering the prophet in its own country.
