A sad announcement by the staff of Audio Video SA
« on: September 18, 2007, 01:21:52 pm »
It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of Rod Willis, our long-time contributor and Jazz fundi of note.

Rod died last week after a fall, followed by complications.

Rod has been a presence with this magazine for such a long time, it's difficult to remember a time when he wasn't part of the staff, and his knowledge and humour will be sorely missed by all.

Our thoughts and wishes are with his wife, Lynne, and with the Willis family, in this difficult time.

We'll miss you, mate.

Rod was a very knowledgeable person. I corresponded with him very briefly once. He'll leave a huge void.

Silence:

OK. To reveal, some will know that I have been associated with AVSA for well nigh 13 years, and Rod was there EVERY TIME through the years. Andrew, I hope an appropriate obituary will appear in AVSA. I would wish to have had his knowledge and reputation.

I bow my head respectfully ....

Hi Ampdog, yes, I am hoping to work with Rod's wife Lynne, on a suitable farewell to him. Because of print lead times, this will of course only appear in the November issue, which I am working on now.

It is our hope that Lynne will continue working with us in the new year, in order to keep the Jazz page alive.

Thanks for your kind words.
