Hi Forum Members,

Nico here.  After years of satifying domestic needs with a NAD AVR setup including some Jamo's, I eventually have some dedicated stereo again  ;D

Rotel RCD1520, RC1580, RB1090 driving a set of B&W804D through Kimber 12VS.

I am lurking in the Vinyl section - hope to learn much from you guys.

Cheers

Hi to all of you,Good people.

I am Dragan(not a Dragon)  and I am 58,but when it comes to the audio toys,I am as 28yrs old.I am Criminologist, but sincerely I am half Moron half Geek, knowing so much, and realizing that I i know nothing, really. In my age I found that my toys(HiFi equipment) are more affordable than a Women, and the biggest advance is that your speakers give you pleasure EVERY time you are around, nothing like a wife.I am  obsessed with technology, music, books.I am chronic SWOPER,and often irritate traders with my offers to swop.My urge is to swop as often, not to make a profit(I'll leave that  to Traders,I make living in a different field).
I have Denon AVR-3310,B&W CM-7, surrounds are Polk TSi100 and CS10,LG 47LX9500,PC base with a 20 TB of music, all run through the Netgear WiFi and Ethernet.I love multichannel music, blues, hard rock and heavy metal.
To the guys who are often selling, get used to get my offers to swop,ha,ha....

Hello!

Real name is Bert, I'm not an audiophile (yet?), coming here to look for some advice on speakers... I'm an electronic engineer, so perhaps have a reasonable understanding of the technical side of things involved (e.g. true meaning of the various specs), but no experience as such with AV equipment from consumer point of view as on this forum.

Greetings AVForums people,

I was introduced to this forum by a friend. Currently I know almost nothing about audio equipment or how they work, but I'm open to take advice (which I will probably ask for very frequently) and I'm very willing to learn, but in time I hope to contribute (someday, in the far future).
Oh - and the classifieds section :D

Greetings AVForumites

I got really sick of my crummy HTiB solution and decided to get something "proper" so came over here to get advice from all of you in-the-know folks.  Already scooped one successful transaction through the classifieds, and a pleasant experience it was too.

Looking forward to learn more and hopefully contribute somewhere I can.

Decided to join this forum so to get me back into proper stuff. I am probably also of the "older" folk on here- 50 - but not old at all. I stated way back with still one of my favourite brands- NAD - Amp - Pre _amp driving a set of Missions, a NAD turntable (yes we still listened to lot of Vinyl back then). But had to add a Marantz CD Player- all still bought from HiFi Installations that was in downtown Johannesburg - (was either Market or Commissioner street?). The Missions high end used to screech a little- but under ZZ Top no one noticed. When most of this was relieved from my possession, I ended up with a Rotel Amp and CD player- same speakers and a broken turntable. The model codes of all of the above is long forgotten.
Anyway years of just keeping trying to have at least some sound, I now feel more or less in the game agiain. Onkyo TX-NR609 is not the top, but for my use it is great. It drives my trusted Tannoy Mercury V. If now I can only get the VRs to complete my set, i will be happy (for a little while as the bug is back). Hello all
If this is torture, chain me to the wall!

Hi guys,

Tshepo here, 28 based in Pretoria and working as a Research Officer at a government semi-academic hospital, Peadiatric Unit.
Anyway as far as I can remember I've always loved music and growing up we had a Pioneer SX450, 15watts if I recall well, silver face with wooden side panels, that thing was a beast.

Getting back to the topic, since finishing studying I promised myself to put together a decent stereo, well here goes:
Yamaha AX-497
Yamaha DVD-S2700 and DVD-S657
B&W 685
B&W ASW 608
Audioquest Diamondback RCA
Audioquest FLX 14/4
I absolutely LOVE this system and won't part ways with it for some time to come. Right now only thinking about changing speaker cables to Rocket 44 id I get a decent price for them. I listen to everything but really enjoy jazz, classic and classic.

As for HT, thinking of putting it a decent system together as funds allow.

Excuse the typos mates, blame the Patricia Barber playing in the background.
