Emotiva order...looking for partners in crime to piggyback

Here is the quote I received from Emotiva.
The shipping didn't work out quite a cheap as we would have liked. At the moment it stands at $180 per person.
Shipping a DAC alone would work out ~$260.

So your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

!!!!!!! Waoh! Okay. Seems like it just isn't worth doing the group order anymore. The weight of the amps are tipping the scales to the heavy side, and at $120 for the DAC it is much better for everyone to just bring one on.

ara that is a really good price for the shipping. I usually estimate about $175 for the smaller components and and about $350 for the larger ones.

Well I've just gone out to Emotiva and asked how much the shipping on a UPA-2 would be. I will report back once I receive a reply from them!

Thanks for doing all the hard work vdL, but you're right in saying that the heavy amps are making it uneconomical to do a group order. Maybe it will be cheaper to group all the DAC's in a single order?

Someone somewhere said to ask for discount on shipping and that is what I did   Shipping started yesterday so should have it by Friday

I think the price diff. in shipping can be due to the fact that the stuff must be sent from Jo burg to CT.

but by the looks of things the saving for the Jo burg order does not justify taking the hammering on the budget now.but that we will only know after the calc has been done

Nah, you still got a bargain - local retail price if it was sold like that would have been in the region of R7000 - R8000!
