I just put em on the desk , I could easily make my own as I have laser cutters ...
You could use an old mannequin head - put shades on it , paint it funky colours - even pretend its your GF :)

The nicest thing about smacking your head against the wall is......the feeling you get when you stop.
Current system: Squeezebox Touch , Z-Sys RDP-1 , PS Audio DAC, Bryston 4B ST , Audiolab 8200mb Monoblocks, Canton Ergo 120dc or Meridian DSP5500 speaker

the best headphones stand i ever saw was somebody had one of those plastic terminator skulls and he used that for his headphones. Sorry i didnt save the pic and now i cannot find it but the skull in question looks like this

so it fits like so

you just have to make sure it isnt too much bigger than your own head so that it doesnt stretch the headphones too much - but if you are worried about stretching them im sure it isnt too difficult or expensive to make something like this which wont allow it to stretch much at all

Sennheiser sells a nice headphone holder (you get one together with the HD595) which I find really handy. I have a floating shelf against the wall above my computer so the I clamped the headphone holder against that and is quite convenient. Think they go for around $20 so that is dirt cheap.

Got one of those Omega stands as well, too expensive for what it is.

There is actually a reason I don't like HP stands that contact the cushions/ear pads  , and that is break in in a HPhone is not just the drivers , the pads themselves take a set to your head , which is messed up if you put them on stands that the pads clamp to.
I have never seen an Orpheus in the flesh , let alone heard one - what were they like compared to the 800s?

Apples and oranges Rodney. One stat and one dynamic, with the strengths and weaknesses of each. Overall I prefer the HD800 in my current system but that is probably because my stat amp at the time did not bring the very best out of the HE90; but neither it (HD800) nor the HE90 could hold a candle to a Stax SR-007 or Stax SR-Ω. Had a HE60 for a time too, it did not disgrace itself against it's more famed twin.

Thing about stands, the ones I made were measured very carefully to hold the headphones as they would be at rest, zero stress across the headbands and no pressure on the ear pads. Each stand is for a specific headphone only. The Omega stand that the HD800 is on does not offer a stress free rest, particularly the earpads which tend have too pressure applied.

Notice how the top of the headphone stand follows the curve of the headband exactly.

Koogs,

Please tell us where you bought that from - I suspect it will really work well with almost any headphone.

Thanks
