i resemble that!  :D

my concerns are the same as that of Gert. there is already a great South African forum in SnS for the car audio enthusiast. to add a sections for mobile audio here would lead to duplication and actually water down a good resource by splitting information into two forums instead of keeping it in one.

I feel that SnS serves that market well. If people have SQ ideas to share with the hi-fi crowd (or if they'd like to use good tweeters for a change) then that may be an interresting collaboration but most of the questions pertain to the car environment which is drastically different from the home.

The scene seems to be quite different on the SnS boards. We have a few SQ-types lurking on the boards here. One thing is for sure, I'd hate to have the vendors' bickering to deal with and for the time being feel that it's best served on the SnS boards.

One problem with the SnS forums: I cannot read it.

I speak, write & read English. Not that lot. I cn lyk to hav a murova system in th car. I simply can't do it. One post, and I have a headache from having to decipher the fckwit spk.

Don't be so unaccommodating, guys! Geesh! >:(

We should absolutely have special section for car audio in the forum index. One that, when clicked on, redirects their browser to SnS.

True, there is alot of BS bickering that goes on at SnS which is entirely why I haven't been on there in years. Now the real hi-fi car guys are all moved over and contributing here (I can name 10 already).

I'd make a car audio sub section, and a major sticky at the top for the doef doef SPL folk and redirect them too SnS, the real audiophiles (or audiofools like me:) ) can then contribute in the other sections.

The other end of the spectrum is that there are alot of car audio threads popping up and more will continue too do so, so if you want to "water down" the home hi-fi part of the general discussion threads then leave it all as is, but if you'd rather seperate it out then start a small sub-section.

Also, at least here we have people that moderate well and would quickly lock and kill and stupid bickering threads, much like some of the threads we already see here (Apple vs the world anyone? :p )

This thread reminds me of our Govt. - a WHOLE lot of talk and no ACTION.

So whats it gonna be? Car audio section or not ?  ;D

Sh1tstirrer, is that whimpering to be understood as you offering to moderate?

Damn straight.

ok ;)

We've had some offline discussions around a sub forum and it's not looking good to be honest. But let me answer it differently, how would you moderate it? The content and participation here is of a pretty high level (except for maybe Greg, Wes and of course Rodney). You can call me elitist if you like (for the second time this week) but the last thing we need is this:
I cn lyk to hav a murova system in th car.
You'll end up not only having to moderate attitude but content as well. Then you have the inevitable backlash of draconian policing and the inevitable wailing wall, something none of the mods here feel like. I know I'm generalising, but unless you can come up with a reasonable way of ensuring that part of the forum does not end up being ruled by the inept I can't see it working.

From what i've seen on the SnS forums it's something one'd have to practice some restraint to moderate. And if I read Gert right, it is not specifically a reflection on the level of discussion as much as having to trawl through the actual content, perhaps even having to refer to SnS. I'd refer to the site admin, but I think that SnS is better suited and placed. What would AVF add, perhaps the car-fi or doef-fi folks could fill us in.

Make it like open talk... you can't see it unless you are a member already? This way you don't know about it unless you are into fi already

and

Make a few entry questions: What is the thing you like most about your system?

If the answer is in fckwt spk, the applicant is banned.
If the answer is it is brand X/Y/Z, the applicant is banned.
If the answer is awesome BASS, the applicant is banned.

What is the port tuning frequency?

If the answer is 60 Hz/the port tunes murova bass, the applicant is banned.

What is the cabin gain?

If the answer is, no i actually lost some cabin space, the applicant is banned

Ok I've spent 30min on SnS, I suspect we have little to offer here. If you like this forum, then just post away car sound stuff where it fits best. I don't mind - I actually wouldn't go to a car sound topic, but like reading about car sound when it does pitch up elsewhere. my 2c

And besides if I do something in my car, it'll hopefully be rather atypical so it needn't be placed in a car-sound section.
