Just as an example, i see there is an ad for the 567 Yammie for R5k and normally negotiable, which means you should be able to pick it up within your budget.

Sorry to sound doff but where did you see that?

It was posted on Jan 10. Just do a search in page for 567 and it pops up immediately :)
EDIT: A bit slow I guess :)

Well my mind is made up, I simply bought a 4 into 1 Aavara HDMI 1.3b switcher. Will continue to run Toslink for all my audio.

Problem is that my STR-DB940 only has 3 optical inputs so if I get more devices I'm going to need to upgrade anyway:(

There you go Jugs. Now your unborn children won't have to make do with Checkers bags for nappies. You ok.

Good option! You would have wasted your money on a 367 as it is crap. I am not a fan of Yamaha AVRs, but if someone NEEDS to buy one, I would also say look at anything above the RX-V4xx models

What exactly is bad with the 367?

I'm I've sold off my amp, CD player, DVD player and attempting to sell my floorstandes - with the idea of getting a lifestyle system shortly. I've been looking at the Yamaha (loved my previous tbh) and the 367 seems alright on specs - aside from the HD audio.

Granted  - if I wasn't going small speakers, it wouldn't have oomph at all and I'd look for something else

In my opinion there is nothing wrong if you know what you want and you know the 367 will do what you want.
