Jennifer Warnes / Ray Brown

Hi there,

On this forum we all discuss most gear and not the media we reproduce on the *exspensive* units...

Just got a CD order from Kalahari.net which include the following:

Jennifer Warnes - The Hunter
and Ray Brown - Super Bass

I know I always search for discs to push my system to new hights - new matrial is just as good as an upgrade...

This is where the Jennifer Warnes disc comes in... A few years ago I bought the "Famous Blue Raincoat" of miss Warner on recommendation from AudiogoN members. I was (and still is) very pleased with the album's sonics but...

The Hunter is SOOOOOOOO much better! The track "Way Down Deep" just became my new all-rounder speaker test track! The bass is amazingly deep and there is beautiful treble architecture in the mix - the vocals are just sublime!

If you aint got it - GET IT!!

Patients please - I am waiting for my B&W babies to arrive so that I can have a listen - like the title implies... "Super Bass"...

It is a double-bass trio performance!!

Super Bass is a fantastic album. There is a performance of Mac the Knife on it that is seriously mind bending stuff - good call!!

Jazz is not a matter of age and this is proved here: Ray is the father (75), John the son (48) and Christian the grandson (32).

Sounds like fun!

The Ray Brown Super Bass album is quite something...

I am still getting into it but the sonic quality is there.

Interrestingly I feel the same about the track "Way down deep" from Jenifer Warnes.

I got the disc years ago, and is it shows up system errors in the bass very quickly. There are two bass instruments in the introduction, a drum and a double bass. It is actually very difficult to distinguis the two if you have any kind of bass boom.

Dewald you mentioned that you bought the Ray Brown CD from Kalahari, but I cannot find it anywhere. Could you check again if indeed you got it from there or maybe another shop, please?
