Is this epic build still alive?

I'm curious too :)

Byron, what software do you use for your drawings?

I want to make some curved speakers using this method or similar.
Byron, if you are still with us, would you say this curved enclosure was worth the effort?

Hi guys, apologies for the long overdue response; I haven't been checking in as often as I should and only saw your questions now (I haven't been receiving notifications either :-[ ).

I'm embarrassed to admit that this build has stalled somewhat. My workshop is still as I left it, albeit with a layer of dust and gecko turds adding to the shame. Work got in the way but things are looking good and I'm looking forward to resuming the build very soon.

So to answer your questions:

Is this epic build still alive?
Yes, very much alive even though it's been in hibernation for far too long.

Byron, what software do you use for your drawings?

I enjoy using Google Sketchup. It's easy to learn and that modelling helps me to test my ideas and iron out the kinks in complex assemblies. It also helps with the guesstimating of internal volumes ;)

Whether or not this method of construction is superior to the other methods for producing curved panels remains to be tested. As far as the effort is concerned, it still tests my patience with all its little quirks and demands along the way. The jigs and clamps take considerable time and patience to manufacture depending on your skill levels (for me it's all still a learning experience), but I have to say it is very rewarding when the various parts come together. For me this project is more about craftsmanship so I have accepted that it will take a while to complete.

As for anyone considering this build or similar, I will continue to post my findings when I resume so that hopefully you won't have to waste time retracing my steps and repeating the same frustrations :)
