RECORD CLAMPS

HI DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE ONE CAN OBTAIN LIGHT WEIGHT RECORD CLAMPS THAT WILL FIT SHORT NON THREADED SPINDLELS.THANKS.

If you don't find one try to manufacture one of these,the o-ring should keep it in place if you push it over the drive and it will be easy to take of again.

he made a very nice one for me out of Phosphorous bronze, works very well.

Weights are easy, clamps are harder.

for lightweight short spindle type check the Michell Rega clamp.
Personally I find they only work on hard mats or naked platters.

I've also been considering a record clamp.

Some records are slightly concave:  When the curve is facing downwards, a heavy clamp should press the centre down - but what about when the record is the other way 'round? A circumference ring perhaps.

This has always bothered me.  Firstly due to the fact that the disc is only partially making contact with the platter, and secondly - the effect that this has on the cartridge allignment.

I think the Garrard 301 platter actually has a slightly dished geometry for this reason.

Any comments?

Peripheral clamps arrrre made by vpi and clearaudio.
funk dish the platter by 5deg and use a clamp.

Is that to say - 'force' all discs down to 5deg, set up the arm to follow that line?
