Monitor Acoustics Speakers

This relates to a Classified thread I started for my Monitor Acoustics MA1000. I recall at the time that the guy who built this made 2 models, the MA1000 and 5000. The 5000 was tested by AVSA (in the 90's).

Does anyone have a copy of that review or a picture of the MA5000 ?

Anyone know what speakers the Monitor Acoustics were benchmarked against and why it didn't gain further traction in RSA like Sonor Audio did

Andrew, around 1991/2.
It was around then that the MA5000 was around. I know that AVSA definately reviewed it as they suggested it to me, along with Proton when I was writing to AVSA.

Andrew, I'm definitely sure AVSA reviewed is as my Letter was published and the comment (I remember well) was "We liked it too".
Certainly, if the MA 1000 was reviewed, I'd like to see that too.

The comments to AVSA at the time was in mid 1993, I when I say 91/92, I assume it was before 93. It could have been in 1993, but I definitely contacted AVSA on this before 1994.

Don't joke. Searched '93, '91, '90...Review was in September 1992.... Monitor Acoustics MA-1000.

Regret we don't have electronic records of equipment reviewed prior to the early 2000s, so I actually have to do a manual search through the copies. We did quite a lot on Technics in the early 90s. With regards to Monitor Acoustics 1000, I'll have to scan and send it to you. It's not a very exciting picture, I have to warn you, and goes back to our black and white printing days.
